Who Are We ?
“Nish-Chintha” means “worry-free”. Nish-Chintha is a society of parents of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities like Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Intellectual Disability and Multiple disabilities, registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 in Palakkad district with Registration number - PKD/CA/392/20/ 14. The main objective of the Society is to give light to the life of differently abled children and provide a reliable solution to their parents’ problem- “LIFE AFTER US”. The society has already purchased about 13 acres of land in Mulanjur in Lakkidi-Perur Panchayath, near Ottapalam, Palakkad District, Kerala.
In Nish-Chintha 100 families with children with developmental disabilities will be staying together as a community and will be taking care of the children, with the help of right care givers.
In Nish-Chintha, we are setting up a National Centre for Assisted Living and Skill development (NACALS) for the individuals with special needs. Such a facility is not available anywhere in India. Simultaneously it is planned to settle about 100 families, through individual houses and flats. Assisted community living concept is envisaged wherein the parents and their children shall live together and support each other for their mutual benefits. The children will be trained to manage their own day to day needs and also in various fields so that they can live independently in future with dignity.
Our Dream
Nish-Chintha, our dream project, is unique and first of its kind in India, where parents of persons with developmental / intellectual disabilities migrate to a common space and settle there for the wellbeing of their children. The special needs children / individuals shall be trained to live independently with help of care givers, so that they can lead a comfortable life even after their parents are no more.
We are from
Majority of us are predominantly Kerala-based families, and have been living in Kerala as well as in different parts of world. Fwe of us have already moved into Nish-Chintha. Others intend to move to Nish-Chintha to build a comfortable future for our children with special needs.
Our Goal
Our goal is to create a space, where our families along with our special needs children can have happy and contented life. We 100 families will take care of our 100 children together, so that "after us", our children feel at home.
Our Homes
We are creating our homes here, where we along with our special needs children will live and enjoy our lives here. It doesn't matter, whether we stay in Villas or Apartments, we are have one home Nish-Chintha.
Our Life
Our lives are dedicated to the cause "Enhancing the quality of life of persons with developmental and intellectual disabilities". We 100 families together work for this cause, in picturesque environment of Mulanjur village.
